Margay Racing is excited to announce the remainder of the 2021 “Ignite Majors” schedule along with Ignite Junior, Ignite Senior and Ignite Masters being recognized as a championship class in the WKA Manufactures Cup season. As requested by the Ignite Junior competitors, WKA has also added a second race-day for Ignite Junior at the remaining Manufactures Cup sprint events. The “Ignite Majors” provide a premier level of competition using the same ruleset as the “local” level. The spec Ignite platform utilizes the Margay Ignite K3 chassis, Briggs & Stratton 206 sealed engine and Hoosier Kartsport R80, hard compound tires, putting emphasis on the driver’s ability. Drivers are able to rent an Ignite K3 package from the Margay factory tent, an official Margay dealer or bring their own Ignite kart to compete as a privateer.
Gearing up with some new additions in 2021, the Ignite Major’s schedule continues at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC on April 15-18, which is also the second round of the WKA Manufactures Cup championship. Ignite will compete on both the sprint track and the “Roval” road-course configuration with the WKA Road Racing series. Once the home to the North American Karting Championships in the 90s, CMS has invested heavily to improve and modernize their technical infield kart facility.
Next up is the 4th annual “Ignite Shootout” at the revived Quincy Grand Prix in Quincy, IL on June 5-6. After a year-off due to Covid-19 restrictions, the annual South Park event promises to be bigger and better than ever. The fast and flowing street circuit navigates through a city park with massive elevation changes in front of thousands of screaming fans.
On September 17-19, the Ignite classes will make their first appearance at New Castle Motorsports Park, located in Spiceland, IN for the WKA Manufactures Cup finale. New Castle is known as the modern “American Meca” of karting competition. It’s been the most asked-for track by Ignite competitors, and through WKA’s partnership we were able to deliver.
In the fall, on a date TBA, will be the return of the USAC Karting Battle at the Brickyard at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, IN. Ignite will return to the “Yard of Bricks” for the 5th time giving “everyday karters” the opportunity to compete at the legendary facility.
